9/25/09 - Bellefontaine Regional Airport is awaiting final approval of Aerobatic Box!

Aerobatic Box Slated for Bellefontaine Regional AirportIn July of 2009, the International Aerobatic Club of Ohio, Chapter 34 (IAC 34) in conjunction with Midwest Corporate Air, Inc. applied for an Aerobatic Practice and Contest box that would allow for scheduled aerobatic use. At first it did not look promising that we could receive the box. However, today Midwest Corporate Air and the Columbus Flight Standards District Office is working together on the approval process!

Once approved, the box will be located approximately one mile north of the Bellefontaine Regional Airport with the southern boundary of the aerobatic box being runway 07/25.

It is very difficult to get an aerobatic box approved. But once we have it, it will be good for Bellefontaine and our community as it will become a location where aerobatic contests can be held......bringing contestants, followers and tourists to our community.

Presently it appears that we should be on track to have the box approved by the middle of October 2009. This will be a great addition to Bellefontaine Regional Airport (KEDJ).

6/15/09

Those Dang Birds!
For what ever reason, the Starling bird activity at the Bellefontaine Regional Airport seems to be much higher than normal this year. You may have noticed that they continue to mess all over the ramp area in front of the terminal door on the ramp side as well as in the main hangar. As a result, we have continued to power wash the ramp area on a regular basis. We have also power washed out all crevises on the 24 foot high facia on the terminal side of the main hangar.

Our Service Safety Director, Jim Holycross purchased an electronic "Bird X" ultrasonic repeller at an auction for less than $80.00. These normally cost over $500. We will be hooking it up to speakers to see if we can successfully scare them away! If you have any ideas, we would like to hear them. Thanks Steve Buchenroth

Noise Complaint
For anyone flying into or out of KEDJ, there is a gentleman that lives north of KEDJ about 1,600 feet north of Route 13 that is very sensitive to the noise generated anytime an aircraft is flown downwind for runway 7.

I will be meeting with him during the next week to determine the exact location of his home and see if there is anything we can do to avoid flying directly over it.

In the mean time, please help by ensuring you are flying at the pattern altitude of 2,100 feet and not below. If you have any questions or suggestions, please drop me a line at (937) 935-1667. Thanks Steve Buchenroth
